In many cases the best way to get upgrades on Las Vegas hotels is to simply ask for them. Often Hotels in Las Vegas will have rooms available that they can upgrade you to. If you ask politely when you are checking in there is a reasonably good chance that they will agree to it if they have on that is available. If you are planning to ask for an upgrade it is a good idea to book your room with the hotel directly rather than through a website. The hotels usually lose money when you book through those discount sites. Obviously the people who book through them would not be the first choice when it comes to upgrades.
The other common way to get an upgrade on a Las Vegas hotel is to gamble. Almost all casinos will offer you some sort of reward for gambling called a comp. In most cases the value of the comp will be based on the amount that you have gambled. The floor manager will normally walk around and give out comps to people as they gamble. Depending on the casino what they can give you may be predetermined, you gamble so much you get this. However in most cases the floor manager will have some flexibility on what you receive as a comp. In these cases he will likely ask you what you want. Just tell him you would like a room upgrade, in most cases they will be happy to agree if you have gambled enough.
One thing to remember if you are trying to get special deals and upgrades in Las Vegas hotels is that the city runs on tips. People who are good tippers will be far more likely to get an upgrade than people how are not good tippers. One of the best things to do is when you first arrive is to very publicly tip everybody, the bell boys, the person at check in, everybody and make sure that the employees see you do it. They make most of their money in the form of tips if you get a reputation as a big tipper they will take good care of you. They will make sure that if an upgrade is available that you will get it, they will make sure that you get the best comps, since the floor manager normally asks the dealer how much you have gambled. Spending a little bit in tips can really go a long way in Las Vegas.
